Dimensional data capture refers to the precise measurement and digital recording of the physical dimensions of objects, such as length, width, and height. Depending on the measuring system, additional data such as weight and volume can also be captured and transferred to higher-level IT systems.

Practical example:
In logistics, dimensional data capture is used to determine the exact dimensions of products, parcels, or pallets. The captured data can be used to optimize storage locations, packaging, transport capacities, and shipping processes and to maintain reliable master data in warehouse management or ERP systems.
