Load cell
The load cell is a sensor element designed for the precise measurement of weight forces and serves as the central measuring component in many industrial scales and weighing systems. It converts the applied force into an electrical signal, which is then evaluated to determine the weight.
Load cells are used in platform scales, conveyor belt scales, pallet scales, and integrated DWS systems. Depending on the application, different designs and measurement principles are used, such as strain gauges. The generated measurement signals are processed by the control system and output as a weight value. A high-quality load cell contributes significantly to the measurement accuracy, reliability, and long-term stability of a weighing system.
Practical example:
In a DWS system, load cells measure the weight of a pallet during the weighing process and transmit the value, along with the dimensional data, to the connected logistics system.
