RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification)

RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) is a technology for the contactless identification and tracking of objects using radio waves. It enables the automatic collection of information without requiring direct line-of-sight between the reader and the transponder.

An RFID system consists of a transponder (RFID tag), a reader, and software for data processing. In logistics, RFID is used to identify goods, pallets, containers, and load carriers, as well as to automatically track the movement of goods and inventory levels. The technology streamlines processes, increases transparency along the supply chain, and reduces the need for manual data entry.

Practical example:
When passing through an outbound goods gate, all pallets equipped with RFID tags are detected simultaneously and automatically recorded as shipped in the warehouse management system.
