3D sensors
3D sensors are optoelectronic sensors used for the three-dimensional detection of objects and their spatial characteristics. They non-contactedly measure dimensions, contours, positions, and surface structures, and provide precise measurement data for automated processes.
Depending on the application, 3D sensors use technologies such as laser triangulation, LiDAR, time-of-flight, or stereo vision. In logistics, they are used for the automatic measurement of packages, pallets, and other loading units. The captured data forms the basis for DWS systems, material flow control systems, and other automated applications.
Practical example:
At a parcel sorting center, 3D sensors capture the dimensions of each package during the conveyor process and make the measurement data immediately available for further processing.
