ULD loading

ULD loading refers to the process of loading Unit Load Devices (ULDs), such as air cargo containers or pallets, for transport by aircraft. The goal is to make optimal use of the available cargo space while complying with safety and weight requirements.

During ULD loading, cargo items are arranged according to their dimensions, weight, stability, and transport requirements. Automatic measurement systems, load calculators, and digital cargo data support the optimal use of available volume and compliance with loading regulations. Precise planning reduces empty space, improves cost-effectiveness, and contributes to safe air cargo operations.

Practical example:
Before loading an air freight shipment, the dimensions and weights of all packages are recorded so that the load calculator can determine the optimal arrangement within the ULD.
