KPI (Key Performance Indicators)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are measurable metrics used to evaluate the performance of processes, facilities, or companies. They are used to monitor goals, analyze trends, and make informed decisions based on objective data.
In logistics, KPIs are used, for example, to evaluate throughput, error rates, equipment availability, on-time delivery rates, or the utilization of conveyor and warehouse systems. These metrics are often automatically calculated from warehouse management, ERP, or DWS systems and visualized in dashboards. This allows for the early identification of weak points and the targeted optimization of processes.
Practical example:
A logistics manager monitors KPIs such as throughput, measurement accuracy, and equipment availability on a daily basis to continuously improve the performance of an automated package sorting center.
